European herbalism: diversity, challenges and future
Booked in 2025 for the International Herb Symposium

In this interactive talk I have combined what I’ve learned from interviewing 20 different European nationalities for my podcast WYLDE and from a survey I did amongst professional European herbalists.
After this talk, participants will know
Why European herbalism is important intangible cultural heritage
What challenges European herbalism faces
How we can learn from one another and help spread the knowledge and skills before they go extinct

Herbal medicine IS medicine: what the WHO TCIM strategy means for you
Booked in 2026 for HerbFest Portugal
A groundbreaking talk on the future of health, where ancient plant wisdom meets global policy
Lieve was personally invited to become a Champion of Health: a voluntary ambassador for the WHO Traditional, Complementary & Integrative Medicine (TCIM) Strategy 2025–2034, recognising her as a leading voice in this global shift.
We live in a moment of change. The World Health Organisation has officially placed traditional and herbal medicine at the heart of its global health agenda for the coming decade, and yet most people, professionals included, don't know why. This talk changes that.
Drawing on 20+ years of experience, her role as WHO Champion of Health, and deep knowledge of plants and people, Lieve brings clarity, urgency, and wonder to one of the most important -and most overlooked - conversations in health today.
After this talk, participants will know
Why herbal medicine is not alternative medicine: it is the original medicine, and why that distinction matters now more than ever
What the evidence says about the value of plant medicine for human health, ecological balance, and a sustainable world
How integrating herbal medicine builds personal resilience, community health, economic stability, and a more grounded approach to wellbeing
