Manifesto

Here’s what Wild Plant Forager stands for…

Safety first

Wild edible plants are hip. But getting poisoned is not.

Wild Plant Forager has been working with plants and people since 2002, long before it became a hype, and makes no compromises when it comes to safety.

Of course, solid plant identification is vital: check check and double check.

But then there’s more than just toxic lookalikes: the soil may be contaminated with heavy metals, there may be parasites, botulism, air pollution, liver damaging plant components…

I't’s not the best option to be driven by fear. We believe in being informed well so you can make safe choices. From fox tapeworm to pyrrolizidine alkaloids: we’re covering it all.

Tackle plant blindness

Let’s create a world where people recognise more local plants than corporate logos instead of the other way around.

Are you familiar with feeling completely at home in the landscape and the world? Because that’s what you get to experience if you learn more about local herbs, shrubs and trees.

Instead of a green wall, you now see plants of which you know the name, history, components and effects. Every time again, people are amazed at how empowered this makes them feel.

Reconnect & rewild

Envision this: instead of standing in line at the supermarket cash register with bad background music, you’re taking a walk through your garden or neighborhood park and picking your food.

You’re enjoying the sunshine (or rain, for that matter), maybe you have a thrilling encounter with a wild animal, you smell the fresh air, you’re feeling free and connected to the landscape.

Because plants gave us our first breath, and your last breath will be going back to the plants. Everything in between is the enthralling dance of life itself.

Plant based & wild is the future

We strongly believe that plants have so much to offer, that they’ll soon play a much more prominent role in our lives. Allies for deep nourishment and our good health.

Wild plant foods are kind to the planet. And we need that. Now and in the future. After all, isn’t the future where we are all going the spend the rest of our lives?

Our recipes are plant based and allergy friendly to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy them.

Sustainable relationships

Foraging is not equal to just grabbing plants in the wild. It’s not looting.

It’s engaging in a sustainable relationship with our environment. Because how can we care about the things we don’t even know?

Harvesting flowers or roots requires another mindset than picking leaves. And are you thinking about the other organisms that depend on that plant you are nibbling on?

Wild Plant Forager gives tips on how to harvest respectfully and sustainably. We also strongly invite you to check the updates and regulations on protected plants in your specific area.

Develop resilience

Learning plant skills makes you more complete as a human. It provides you with the information on the nourishment and remedies nature is offering.

The wisdom and knowledge our ancestors had is still in our genetic blueprint. Time to wake it up.

In an ever changing world, wild plant knowledge is something you’ll be able to count on for the rest of your life. It’s a skill you’ll never ever regret learning.

It may be contagious though. But that’s cool. Who doen’t want to take part in the ripple effect to a better world?
